MARTINIQUE DAY FESTIVAL 16è édition

Succès au BB King Jazz Club à New York

Le rêve est devenu réalité : le Martinique Day Festival a eu lieu au BB King jazz Club sur Times square le samedi 8 octobre 2005. « La transition a été assurée entre le SOB’s et le BB King Jazz Club» nous dit Muriel Wiltord, directrice du Martinique Promotion Bureau à New York. Etant inscrit dans un environnement caribéen, le MDF a voulu construire sa programmation autour de cet état de fait. Ce qui nous a permis d’applaudir les martiniquaises Sonia Marc dit « La Sosso », Princess Lover, Christiane Valéjo, le jeune talent haïtien Mayer Morisset, les jeunes de Décibel, le dominiquais Jeff Joseph, l’ensemble sous la direction du martiniquais Jéricho Boura et son groupe.

Le convoité Awards « Sucrier D’Or » fut remis à La Sosso, Jeff Joseph et au journaliste noir américain Jared Mc Allister.

Côté presse « extérieure », ATV et RCI ont fait le déplacement pour la Martinique ainsi que Dynamitch Magazine et Espace FM pour l’Europe.

En faisant le déplacement à New York, la présidente du CMT (Comité Martiniquais du Tourisme), Madeleine de Grandmaison soutien et évalue l’ampleur de la manifestation pour mieux la pérenniser.

Success at BB King Jazz Club in New York City

The dream has become reality : the Martinique Day Festival took place at the BB King Jazz Club in Times Square on October 8, 2005. “The shift from SOB’s to BB King was well handled” says Muriel Wiltord, Director of the Martinique Promotion Bureau of New York.

The MDF proposed a program in keeping with the expected Caribbean flavour. This allowed us to applaud Martiniquan female artistes Sonia Marc aka “La Sosso”, Princess Lover, Christiane Valéjo, also the young Haitian talent Mayer Morisset, the young Decibels, the Dominican Jeff Joseph all under the artistic direction of the Martiniquan Jéricho Boura and his group.

The coveted “Sucrier d’Or” award was bestowed on La Sosso, Jeff Joseph and the African-American journalist Jared Mc Allister. The “foreign” press was represented by ATV and RCI from Martinique as well as Dynamitch Magazine and Espace FM travelling from Europe. The President of the CMT (Comité Martiniquais du Tourisme), Madeleine de Grandmaison took time off in New York to support and evaluate the event in order to better perpetuate it. The winning team surrounding Muriel Wiltord : Christelle Coita, Valérie Vucain, Monique Macaire and the inevitable Alex Boicel.
